5010 Readiness Center

Welcome to the Sage 5010 Readiness Center. Here you will find the latest information and tools that will help prepare you for the upcoming 5010 transition.

What is HIPAA X12 5010?
All electronic healthcare transactions are transmitted in compliance with standards set forth by HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) and HHS (Health and Human Services). On 1/16/09, HHS announced a final rule that replaces the current version of these standards (4010) with version 5010 for electronic claim, remittance, and eligibility transactions.

The rule establishes that all covered entities should begin testing and migrating to 5010 during the 2011 calendar year in preparation for the final compliance date of Jan 1, 2012. Beginning on Jan 1, 2012, all electronic HIPAA transactions must be exchanged using the new 5010 standards.

Version 5010 of the HIPPA standards includes enhancements to data content such as improved eligibility responses and enabling the reporting of ICD-10 diagnosis codes (ICD-10 diagnosis codes are not required until October, 2013).
