HealthPro and HealthPro XL by Sage and NPI
As many of you are aware, May 23, 2008 is an important deadline for all of us. That is the date when healthcare providers will be required to provide only their National Provider Identifiers (NPIs) on all Medicare paper and electronic claims for reimbursement. For more information about HealthPro and HealthPro XL and the handling of legacy IDs please visit the HealthPro by Sage: Removing Legacy IDs page.
HealthPro XL version 2.1 will be compliant with NPI requirements for both electronic and paper, professional and institutional claims. An update for HealthPro XL customers will be available in March, so that these community health centers will have plenty of time to implement the upgrade, test the system and begin transmitting their NPI(s).
Older Versions of HealthPro
The best option for community health centers on older versions of HealthPro is to upgrade to HealthPro XL. Upgrading to HealthPro XL will offer the following benefits in addition to compliancy with NPI requirements.
- Ability to copy sliding fee scales
- Privacy and security enhancements
- Electronic remittance posting
- Enhanced reporting
To upgrade to HealthPro XL, please call 1-877-932-6301 and choose option 1 to speak to a Sage Software professional.
If your health center is unable to upgrade before May 23rd, we have a temporary electronic Network Services solution available in conjunction with our clearinghouse. The crosswalk will "translate" your legacy identification numbers to your new NPI, so that you are able to comply with the regulation. We will be sending more information about the crosswalk option to affected customers soon. Please watch your email, fax and mail for this important information.
