Intergy by Sage and NPI
As many of you are aware, May 23, 2008 is an important deadline for all of us. That is the date when healthcare providers will be required to provide only their National Provider Identifiers (NPIs) on all Medicare paper and electronic claims for reimbursement. For more information about Intergy and the handling of legacy IDs please visit the Intergy by Sage Job Aid: Discontinuing the Use of Legacy IDs page.
NOTE: Intergy NPI updates have been delivered to all customers with active support contracts via either the Remote Monitoring System (RMS) or on CD. To find out more about completing your NPI update, review the NPI and Your System instructions.
To allow you to comply with NPI requirements, your version of Intergy must be 1.19 or higher. Additionally, you must have the correct formats. Use these instructions to check your Intergy version and format numbers. (To print a copy of these instructions, download this PDF.)
Step 1 - Check your version number
- From the Intergy Desktop select Help - About Intergy from the menu bar
- If your version of Intergy by Sage is 1.19 or higher proceed to Step 2
- If your version of Intergy is not at least 1.19, your best option is to upgrade to the most recent version of Intergy. There are several advantages to upgrading to Intergy v. 3.5:
- Denial tracking and management
- Claim Tracker
- Office Efficiency Bundle (OEB), appointment limits
- New reports (PDF and generation options)
- Workflow enhancements to co-pay
- Referring provider marketing
- Batch refund check writer
However, if you are unable to upgrade before the May 23rd NPI deadline, we have a temporary crosswalk solution available in conjunction with our clearinghouse.
The crosswalk will "translate" your legacy identification numbers to your new NPI, so that you are able to comply with the new regulation. We will be sending more information about the crosswalk option to affected customers soon.
Step 2 - Check Electronic Claims format version by going into Claim Format Definitions
NOTE: The minimum format requirements are:
Professional Claims - WEBMD4E or INTERGY4E
Institutional Claims - WEBMD4I or INTERGY4I
- If you are on a current format version please proceed to step 3
- If you are not using a current format version, there is no need to worry. Both an electronic claim and paper claim format utility will be sent to customers in early March. Customers using our Remote Monitoring Services (RMS) will be upgraded automatically. Customers not using RMS will receive a CD in the mail.
Step 3 - Transmit your claims
With the combination of Network Services for the transmission of claims and the Business Services clearinghouse to send claims to payers, Network Services users do not need to worry about which payers are ready to accept NPI. The clearinghouse, Emdeon Business Services, will complete all necessary testing with payers and will transmit the appropriate identifiers (either legacy or NPI) to payers.
